Viatical Investment
10%+ Fixed Return
Tax Free Investment

Viatical Investment is a great way to get a high return without having to risk your savings on the stock market.

This is a little known strategy in Canada but is used extensively in the United States. Viatical Investment is a core component of the investment portfolios of companies such as Merrill Lynch, CIBC and AIG.

What Is Viatical Investment?

Viatical investment is based on the "viatical" industry. There is a big problem in the United States with skyrocketing costs for health care. When people are terminally ill, they have a limited life expectancy. However, they still have to take medical treatments. This can become a big drain on the family's finances. As the family starts to liquidate assets to provide treatment, one of the assests they own is a life insurance policy. The viatical industry deals with the buying and selling of life insurance policies.

The person interested in selling their policy goes to a viatical settlement broker. The broker then puts the word out to people interested in viatical investment. He gets a number of people to bid on the policy. The person/company offering the best deal then works directly with the seller (policy owner).

The buyer becomes the "irrevocable beneficiary". Relatives and other claimants waive their claim on the policy. A change of beneficiary letter is sent directly to the buyer from the life insurance company.

Since profiting from a viatical investment depends on when the insured dies, underwriting companies assess the lifespan of the terminally ill patient and issue a certificate stating how many years he/she is expected to live. This is an important part of the consideration of people thinking of adding viatical investment to their portfolio. Most of the time people pass away a little before or after the projected time period, but if they live longer, the purchaser of the policy must continue paying for the insurance. People who sell their policy have been diagnosed with a serious, terminal illness, so even if someone lives longer than expected, their lifespan is still much shorter than a healthy person.

Tax Free Returns

The money paid to the investor is as a life insurance settlement so it is tax-free to the investor.

A Great Way To Help The Sick And Elderly

When a dying person in the United States gets treatment for a terminal illness it can become very expensive. Most families don't have the savings to cover these expenses. As a person interested in viatical investment you can help someone while they are still alive. In exchange for your help, after they are gone, you will receive a nice return on your investment in the form of tax-free money.

Families have gone bankrupt trying to take care of their sick. Thankfully, some people were wise enough to maintain a life insurance policy. Instead of benefitting the family after passing away, the policy can be used to provide crucial treatment when it is needed most.
